April 16th

Surgery went GREAT!

Surgery was scheduled for today instead of yesterday because of other babies that were in more critical condition than Jett. He went into the OB room at about 10:15am today. The surgery took about 2 1/2 hours and is now back in his NICU pod for recovery. He is heavily sedated right now and still on pain meds as expected. The surgeon spoke with me privately, immediately after surgery and informed me that everything in his intestines was there as he expected, and he was able to successful stitch the two healthy ends of his intestines together.
Jett looks amazing, he is comfortable and obviously very sleepy. We are now on the road to recovering-the recover process of a preemie who just had bowl surgery, is anywhere from 5 days to a week. Yes, I know! My mouth dropped too! It's actually a quick process and because an infant is growing at such a fast pace, the recovering time is small.

Jett will NOT return to Siani Hospital and will continue to be cared for here at Children's Hospital until he can go home (That is their policy according to insurance). He is being monitored even more closely and the extent of care he is receiving is unbelievable.
Once Jett has fully recovered from his surgery (again, 5-7 days) we will then start breastfeeding and learn how to care for a preemie as we would at home!

The last thing the doctor said to me was, "I would like to see Jett go home in about 3 weeks or so, how does that sound to you?"

PRAISE GOD
