Look how far you've come

Such a big-strong boy! We are happy to say that Jett is finally breathing on his own again (of course with some assistance, but we won't tell him that)!
Very, very small feedings started up late Friday night and we said 'goodbye' to the antibiotics!
Wow, that sure was a scary few weeks for us, and extremely disheartening. It was sad to see our son take all those steps backwards, and we felt as if we were never going to get out of this rut. But he showed us, yet again, how strong he is. And how powerful our God is. Whew! Praise You Lord for all your awesome work! And thank you to everyone who took an extra minute to send out a prayer

...still lots of work, healing, and of course growing to do, but this momma & daddy can't wait to bring him home!

Someone is feeling better!

Someone is feeling better!

The plan for our little guy is to continue with antibiotics for another two days and start his feedings back up by Friday. Starting out slow on how much he gets everyday and bumping up day by day. We expect to see him off of his breathing ventilator by the end of the weekend at least. We are praying for NO MORE setbacks as April is right around the corner and would like to see him come home by the first week in May (his due date is May 8th).

Will add video in a bit :)

Fighter Pilots UNITE!!!

We need more Jett power from our Fighter Pilots  As much as we want answers, please message this page and not Eva and Travis. I am sure that their phones are constantly going off and as much as they want to answer all of the messages, I am sure it is overwhelming on top of the stress of a very sick baby. That is why this page was created- to keep everyone in the loop. We will post an update as SOON as we know something. The doctors are doing everything that they can to help Jett overcome this hurdle. ~Jennifer

Early Saturday morning we were informed that Jett was not doing so well. He became very lethargic, his heart rate was abnormally high and his skin was very pale. After a few tests that were ran doctors confirmed that Jett has an infection of the intestines, causing bloody urine and stool. There is a possibility that Jett could have something called, Necrotizing Enterocolitis (NEC). We are hoping and praying that this is not the case and only a small infection, something that can be compared to the 'stomach flu' but in the intestines. Right now Jett is being given three types of antibiotics to help fight the potential infection as well as keep him comfortable and pain free.
At this point, Jett will not be fed for at least 7 days. Instead a 'sugar water' with nutrients through an IV will be given. This will allow his intestines and bowels to rest and if infected, recover. If NEC happens to be in his intestines, it will require immediate surgery to remove the dead tissue.
Jett was also re-intubated and is back to breathing along with the breathing ventilator. We know that Jett can now breath on his own, but the less work he has to do, the less calories he burns and the faster he can recover.

We are so thankful for the prayers, and at this point we know is the only thing that will heal him.

Graduation

Jett graduated to a big boy diaper today! Still big on him, but he's soaking through the preemie ones (which is a really good sign) so they put on a bigger one for more absorbency.

Updates

March 18th:

Kangaroo Care, also known as 'skin to skin' was a success tonight!! We tried sometime last week but it only lasted for about a minute before Jett forgot to breath twice.
Finally on our second try I held him in the kangaroo position for a half hour!
He also is weighing in at 2 pounds and 7.7 ounces! He's getting 'fatter' and his skin is baby soft now instead of the thin, leathery feel.
All good signs of progress and now we are just working on letting him grow until he can go home! (:

Finally!!! We have a savings account set up for baby Jett! You can go to any Wells Fargo Bank and deposit any amount that you desire and no fees will be charged. The account is under Jett Wilson and Jennifer McAdoo. Sorry it has taken so long, but my 16 month old is not always cooperative! lol Thank you to everyone that has helped out with gifts so far. They are appreciated and put to good use. Please let Jennifer know if you have questions and let Eva and Travis focus on themselves and Jett. You can message this page or email me personally.  (jenscookingpad@yahoo.com.)
Thanks to all of his fighter pilots!!!

March 11th

It was bath time tonight! And he was silent the whole time! Still haven't heard him cry (besides when he was born, but I was fairly drugged up so I can barely remember) the nurses said he's waiting until he gets home to scream in mommy's face  lol.  ~Eva

Breathe.1.2.3.

Today was the day!
Jett's breathing ventilator has been removed early this morning! He is now breathing on his own and being assisted with nasal oxygen in case he forgets to take some breaths, like all premies do. YAHOO!
We want to say thank you to everyone for praying so hard for our little man! The love and support is so overwhelming and greatly appreciated. We are so happy we could share this journey with friends and family! (:  ~ Eva and Travis

March 6th

In 6 days our handsome Jett will be one month old! Can't ya'll believe it?? I sure can't!
...With that being said, I've waited almost a month to hold our precious son and tonight I received news that tomorrow is the day! The day I can hold him and give him all the kisses in the world! I will only be allowed 15-30 minutes depending on how well Jett will handle it. At his gestation age (31weeks+2days) babies are very sensitive to touch, sound and light. All of this can affect his breathing, etc. So we hope for the best and ask for continued prayers tonight and tomorrow as we start an exciting, new journey!
Jett is up to 5cc's of breast milk and will continue to receive 1cc to each feeding everyday. Which means his little tummy is tolerating the feedings and we come closer to getting the breathing and feeding tubes out!

Thank you to Destiny Frye Photography who offered us a free NICU session so that we could look back and always remember this moment we've waited so long for. Tomorrow she'll be there capturing every moment, and I'll be able to share these beautiful pictures with you all as well.

March 3rd

March 3rd:

Today we learned that God healed our little boy who no longer has pneumonia! Which means he is also been taken off his antibiotics and his right lung that was once collapsed and expanded is working properly and doing it's job again. Jett's feedings are up to 3 ml's of breast milk now and on top of the great news, he is ALMOST TWO POUNDS! (Only 2 ounces to reach 2 pounds)

Today was all smiles and particularly a great evening with our little dude!
